Welcome to our June 2009 newsletter.

I am sorry to say that Jaques D in San Francisco did not claim the chin up bar.

The bar will be added to next month's drawing.

I use a random number generator to pick the winners. Every email address is assigned a line number. When someone opts out from receiving further emails, the line number and email address remain on the list, but the email becomes a "Do Not Mail" line. John B from a CrossFit gym in Holland, Ohio was the winner of the bar. However John opted out from receiving further emails when he received the Memorial Day email so we did another drawing. Having a dropout rate of about 2% and a bounce rate of about 1% is normal when sending newsletters.

Stacey C in Los Angeles becomes the winner of this month's drawing on the 2nd draw. Stacey if you opened this letter, send an email to me to claim your bar.

Next month we shall draw a name to win a $150 gift certificate for any product from our 3 websites. We shall hold a 2nd drawing for the unclaimed chin up bar from last month. If you are receiving this newsletter, you are automatically entered into the drawing. Remember, if you do not open the newsletter with one of the links on the email, you will never know if you won or not.

For gym owners and coaches, there is a special drawing for our new 20" Plyometric box, designed specifically for Crossfit programs. That drawing will be held on June 15th.

Entry for this drawing is by request. If you have not yet sent in your entry, send an email to enter.

With all of the turmoil in the economy, it was very heartening to have supplied the bar stools, custom designed snack tables and the foot rails for Magnolia, a new restaurant in downtown Los Angeles.

Located at 825 W. 9th St, just west of Figueroa St., they feature a great menu at very affordable prices. For the local readers, give them a try the next time you are downtown. They are within walking distance of the Staples and Convention Centers and L.A. Live.

For starters, try their Hummus, (made by them, not from a can) for 10 bucks.

My favorite entree, Rigatoni Bolognese, made with veal, pork and parmesan cheese is just 14 bucks.

Check out their Downtown or Hollywood Locations

See what a restaurant should be. All of us at the factory wish them the best in their new endeavor and are proud to have supplied them with their barstools and snack tables.

We are currently bidding on supplying 50 barstools for a new restaurant in Phoenix.

It is heartening to see new businesses open and the confidence that is displayed by those individuals willing to gamble on an upturn in the economy.

I really love eggplant and happened to find a recipe for eggplant and tomatoes which I tried.

It is a very simple dish and quite different from the heavy eggplant dishes I am used to. Give it a try.

1 eggplant, peeled and halved lengthwise
1 tomato, halved
1 pinch garlic salt
ground black pepper to taste
2 teaspoons olive oil
2 sheets heavy duty aluminum foil

1. Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat.
2. Place one eggplant half and one tomato half on each sheet of aluminum foil. Sprinkle with garlic salt and black pepper. Drizzle with the olive oil. Fold the foil up to form packets.
3. Grill the packets until the eggplant and tomato are very tender, about 15 minutes.
Note: If your eggplant is small enough you don't have to peel it. Do peel the large ones as the peel tends to make the meat of the eggplant bitter. There's no need to salt and drain the eggplant for this recipe.

I cannot wait until I can make this again with the eggplant and tomatoes that I am growing in the back yard.

Zac Sunderland, the 17 year old sailor that is sailing around the globe has traversed the Panama Canal and is now on the last leg of his journey.

It has been a remarkable journey and I have been enthralled to be able take a virtual tour by reading his blog.
